Super Bowl LVII has come and gone, meaning a cap has been put on the 2022 season.
In the NFL, the end simply means a new beginning. And while the new league year doesn’t technically arrive until March 15, the page has been turned and the calendar flipped. Everyone is already looking ahead.
But for a brief moment, our friends over at Touchdown Wire decided to look back. And on Monday, they released their final power rankings for the season that was.
In the case of the New York Giants, they finished much higher than anyone could have anticipated just a year ago.
11. New York Giants
Speaking of ways that work, coach Brian Daboll proved it with his first season in New York. The Giants have a dominant defense with defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale. Do the Giants give Daniel Jones another shot under center? Do they dare give Saquon Barkley an extension? All eyes will be on the Giants’ offensive moves in the offseason.
The Giants certainly have some questions to answer and needs to address this offseason, but they are headed in the right direction for the first time in a decade.
Comparatively, as it relates to the power rankings, the Washington Commanders check in at No. 21 overall. The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are both out ahead of the Giants at No. 7 and No. 2, respectively.
Unsurprisingly, the Kansas City Chiefs topped the list while the Indianapolis Colts finished dead last at No. 32.
