New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Tyrone Tracy have officially etched their names into the NFL history books.
On Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, both players produced early and joined an all-time club with precious few members.
With Nabers’ 31-yard performance and Tracy’s 49-yard performance in the first quarter, both eclipsed 1,000-plus yards from scrimmage on the season, becoming just the third-ever rookie duo to accomplish such a feat.
They join Marques Colston and Reggie Bush (2006), and Abner Haynes and Johnny Robinson (1960) in rarified company.
In addition to this record, Nabers also set the single-season franchise record for receptions by a rookie (91) last week, leapfrogging running back Saquon Barkley (2018) and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (2014).
His early reception against the Colts further extended that record.
Entering a Week 16 game against the Atlanta Falcons, Nabers was fully aware of both potential records.
“Yeah, I’m keeping track of it. I’m keeping track of it,” he told reporters about the rookie reception record.
Nabers was asked if any record in particular stood out to him.
“All of them,” Nabers said. “They just all do. If I can put my name in the record books, I’m going to do it.”
Unlike Nabers, Tracy was not aware of how close to Giants history he was until the No. 6 overall pick brought it to his attention.
