Giants’ Malik Nabers finishes fifth in Rookie of the Year voting

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers finished fifth among the five finalists for this year’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award at the NFL Honors on Thursday night.

Nabers’ college teammate at LSU, quarterback Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders, won the award garnering 49 of the 50 first-place votes.

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers finished second, followed by Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (another LSU product), and Nabers.

Daniels, who led the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game this year, was heavily favored to win the award.

Nabers, the sixth overall selection in last year’s draft, had a breakout year setting a franchise record for receptions with 109 with 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns despite missing two games to a concussion.

His 109 receptions are the most by a rookie wide receiver in NFL history.
