Last season, one of the biggest Pro Bowl snubs was New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas.
Thomas was an absolute force in protection in 2022, earning him Second-Team All-Pro honors and landing him a long-term extension with the Giants this offseason.
Buy Giants TicketsAfter being snubbed from the Pro Bowl last year, Thomas was somehow left off the NFL Top 100 this year even though he was arguably the best left tackle in the league.
But NFL Network believes his ascension will continue and the league will right at least one wrong, voting Thomas to the Pro Bowl for the first time.
Noticing a theme of good, young O-linemen being overlooked by voters? Thomas is already a top-tier blocker and should be recognized as such in 2023. The 6-foot-5 left tackle improved by leaps and bounds in the past two seasons. Last year, Thomas ranked as PFF’s No. 3 overall tackle and fourth-best pass blocker. He ranked in the top six in pressures allowed among all tackles with at least 950 snaps. I expect the 24-year-old to be even better in 2023 and he should be recognized as one of the best OTs in the NFL.
After struggling during his rookie season, Thomas has turned into a model for consistency and one of the Giants’ biggest chips to build around moving forward.
As the Giants continue to bolster their offensive line with recent draft picks Evan Neal and John Michael Schmidt, if they are anywhere close to the talent Thomas brings to the table, the Giants would be more than satisfied with that.
As Thomas continues to improve, the awards and recognition cannot be far behind. Although he should have been a Pro Bowler in 2022, Thomas looks primed to get named to his first Pro Bowl this season.
