On the surface, it would be difficult to classify MLB’s first regular-season foray into Mexico City as anything other than a success.
Playing to near-capacity crowds, the Giants and Padres staged a pair of exciting games on Saturday and Sunday, with San Diego taking 16-11 and 6-4 victories to sweep the series.
However, there was a downside. Mexico City’s renowned cuisine and the Giants’ digestive systems apparently did not mix, as pitcher Logan Webb outlined in entirely too much detail Wednesday afternoon.
“I think three-quarters of our clubhouse has the s--ts,” Webb told reporters matter-of-factly after the Giants beat the Astros 4-2 in Houston.

Webb, per NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic, was praising San Francisco’s effort in its series win over Houston. The Giants lost to the Astros 7-3 on Monday but bounced back with 2-0 and 4-2 victories.
Despite the series win in the Lone Star State, San Francisco remains in fourth place in NL West, 4 1/2 games behind the first-place Dodgers—yet another development difficult for the team to stomach.
