Retired New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck and running back Brandon Jacobs hated the Dallas Cowboys during their playing days and that disdain remains in retirement.
There’s never been any love lost between the two franchises, but with the Giants a shell of their former selves, they’ve been forced to suffer in silence over the past decade.
No more, says linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux.
After a week-long feud with Dez Bryant that has played out on social media, Thibodeaux appeared on radio row at Super Bowl LIX alongside teammate Bobby Okereke and laid into the Cowboys.
“(Expletive) the Cowboys,” Thibodeaux told Zach Gelb. “Much love to Dez. He’s a media connoisseur and me, you know, I just like to roast people. When (the) offseason comes and I’ve got a little more free time, why not give the fans something to see?”
The back-and-forth between Thibodeaux and Bryant began during the NFC Championship Game and continued over the course of a week-plus. At one point, Bryant suggested the “rap” in person, which Okereke admits he’d like to see.
“Charity boxing match,” the veteran suggested. “Coming soon.”
Meanwhile, Thibodeaux acknowledged that the beef isn’t over and likely won’t be for some time.
“No, the beef is never over. As long as he represents the Cowboys the beef will never be over,” Thibodeaux said. “There’s no personal beef but all just Cowboys-Giants beef. There’s just no room for a Cowboy.”
Asked if Dallas is the team he hates most, Thibodeaux initially said “no” but then went on to address the NFC East as a whole.
“I hate the Eagles more,” he said. “Honestly, I hate them all equal. They can all burn. I hate them all equal.”
Maybe, just maybe, Thibodeaux can help give the Giants back an edge they’ve been missing over the past 10-plus years. The players should hate the Cowboys. And the Eagles. And the Commanders. That’s what NFC East football is all about.
