Giants’ Kadarius Toney ‘good to go’ as camp opens

Kadarius Toney, the New York Giants’ 2021 first-round pick whose rookie season was largely disappointing, will be a full participant in this year’s training camp.

Toney, a wide receiver who can also double as a gadget player and kick returner, missed the team’s OTAs this spring as he was recovering from offseason knee surgery.

“Toney has been great, he works hard and will not have a red jersey on, he’s ready to practice,” head coach Brian Daboll said at the team’s introductory camp press conference on Wednesday alongside general manager Joe Schoen.

Toney played in 10 games as a rookie last year, starting four. He caught 39 of 57 targets for 420 yards and no touchdowns. He rushed just three times for a total of six yards.

The Giants were rumored to be shopping Toney this offseason but nothing ever materialized and Schoen later denied said rumors. They will now try to accelerate his progress this summer and hope he becomes a reliable starter.
