Giants’ Joe Schoen: ‘We’re not shopping Kadarius Toney’

The New York Giants overreached for Kentucky wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft on Friday night, but that won’t impact Kadarius Toney.

Asked again about the Toney trade rumors, Giants general manager Joe Schoen emphatically denied they were shopping the former first-round pick. And when confronted a second time, Schoen appeared to lose his patience.

“We’re not shopping Kadarius Toney,” Schoen told reporters before snapping back at a follow-up inquiry. “Reflect on what I just said.”

After skipping the start to the team’s offseason workout program, Toney arrived in East Rutherford last week as the aforementioned trade rumors swirled. It was his first face-to-face with the new staff and he was finally able to pick up his playbook several weeks late.

“Yeah, I said Kadarius had a good week. Good to see him. Jumped right in and chugging along,” head coach Brian Daboll said.

Although Robinson is a near carbon copy of Toney, Schoen and Daboll see absolutely no issue with that.

“You guys saw Kadarius. I’ll take as many of those guys as we can on the field,” Schoen said. “We like the player (Robinson). If he can be like Kadarius when he’s on the field and he’s healthy, we’ll take as many of those guys as we can.”
