Giants’ Daniel Jones Shares Honest Response to Brian Daboll’s Heated Tablet Throw

It's been a long week for the Giants, even though they played on Monday. New York was destroyed 24–3 by the Seahawks at home, a disaster that culminated in coach Brian Daboll hurling a tablet in frustration after quarterback Daniel Jones threw an interception that Seattle cornerback Devon Witherspoon took 97 yards the other way for a score.

The Giants have spent the week in damage control mode. Daboll downplayed the incident Tuesday, and Jones did likewise in an interview with sportscaster Kay Adams Thursday afternoon.

“The tablet’s fine. It was just a little flip. It wasn’t much of a throw,” Jones said, smiling. “That was all overblown.”

When Adams pressed him a bit, Jones chalked it up to Daboll's personality.

“I think [if] you just know the guy, he’s a fiery, passionate guy,” Jones said. “That’s what makes him so good as a coach. That’s his communication style, and I didn’t take anything other than that from it.”

Jones took responsibility for his mistake and expressed that the team was frustrated in the wake of a 1–3 start.

It doesn't get any easier for New York going forward: the Giants visit the Dolphins and Bills over the next two weeks.
