New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale have generated interest among head coach-needy teams.
Thus far, the duo has refused to take any interviews, instead remaining solely focused on the NFC Playoffs. But that will change on Sunday.
Whether the Giants upset the Philadelphia Eagles to advance to the NFC Championship Game on Saturday night or not, both Kafka and Martindale will conduct their interviews on Sunday.
Some of the coaching interviews scheduled for this week and weekend:
— #Giants OC Mike Kafka is set for interviews Sunday with #Colts, #Panthers and #Texans.
— #Giants DC Wink Martindale has #Colts on Sunday.
— #49ers DC DeMeco Ryans has the #Broncos today, #Texans on Friday.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 19, 2023
Kafka will interview with the Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, and Indianapolis Colts. Martindale will interview with the Colts.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be a part of those conversations and be a part of that process but really that’s all I have to add on it,” Kafka said last week.
Martindale was equally honored, but he made sure to note that he doesn’t view his position with the Giants as a stepping stone.
“When I came here as a Giant, it wasn’t a stepping stone for me. It was a destination,” Martindale said. “I love it here in New York. I love the city. I think it’s the greatest city in the world, I think it’s the greatest fans in the world and the ownership — the Maras and Tischs — have been great to my family.”
