Giants, Brian Daboll want to start fast vs. Jaguars

The New York Giants may be 5-1 on the season, but that’s because they’ve been able to battle back from multiple double-digit deficits over the first six weeks.

They’ve been a dominant second half team but in order to sustain their success, they’re going to need to play better in the first and second quarters.

That is something head coach Brian Daboll and his staff are well aware of.

“Certainly, that’s one of the things we need to do better is get off to a faster start. But we work at it each week, and we’ll try to do that this week,” Daboll told reporters on Friday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have struggled to close out games and seem to routinely cave late in the fourth quarter, which is where the Giants have been at their best. But the team knows it’s much easier to secure a win if they don’t have to climb back into every game.

“Everybody’s got to do a better job, starting with me and all the way through. We got to execute when we need to execute,” Daboll said. “We got to do a good job of designing our plays to start out the game. And there’s no magic recipe for it. We can all do a better job.”

Look for the Giants to mix things up and dip into their bag of tricks a little bit earlier this Sunday in Jacksonville.
