Giants at a crossroads with five games remaining

The New York Giants are coming off their bye week and are on a two-game winning streak as they prepare to host the Green Bay Packers (6-6) next Monday night at MetLife Stadium.

The Giants are currently 4-8 and in third place in the NFC East, one-half game ahead of last-place Washington, five games behind 9-3 Dallas, and six full games behind division-leading Philadelphia (10-2).

The Giants are in the 12th spot in the NFC but are only two games out of the seventh wild card berth, which the Packers currently hold. In between the Giants and Packers in the race are the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle, Tampa Bay, and New Orleans.

According to NFL Research, the Giants hold the 6th overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft (Tankathon has them at No. 7).

The schedule the rest of the way for the Giants is not an easy one: Philadelphia twice, Green Bay, the Rams, and New Orleans. Of that group, only the Saints (5-7) have a losing record.

Fans are torn on what to root for the rest of the way. The Giants will obviously better their draft position by losing, but if they can continue to surge, they just might close out this season on a high note — and dare we say it — challenge for a playoff berth.
