The New York Giants revealed their 2023 regular season schedule earlier this month and with that, came word on their preseason opponents.
In a minor shakeup, the Giants and New England Patriots will not be playing their annual preseason contest this year. That likely stems from some accidental text messages sent from Bill Belichick to Brian Flores that resulted in litigation.
In place of the Patriots, the Giants will take on the Carolina Panthers in Week 2 of the preseason. They also have games against the Detroit Lions and, of course, the New York Jets.
On Thursday, the Giants announced the dates and times for those games.
- Week 1: at Lions on Aug. 11 at 7:00 p.m. ET
- Week 2: vs. Panthers on Aug. 18 at 7:00 p.m. ET
- Week 3: vs. Jets on Aug. 26 at 6:00 p.m. ET
All three games will air on NBC 4 NY.
“Big Blue’s return is just around the corner, and we cannot wait to deliver quality, action-packed broadcast and streaming coverage to our Tri-State viewers,” said Eric Lerner, President and General Manager of NBC 4 New York. “We are proud to be the Official Preseason TV home of the New York Giants.”
“We look forward to partnering with NBC 4 New York to provide Giants fans with comprehensive coverage throughout the preseason as the team builds for the 2023 season,” said Pete Guelli, Chief Business Officer. “Our weekly all-Access show will give camp updates from the sidelines, player profiles and take you behind the scenes with members of the organization.”
Prior to the games against the Lions and Jets, the Giants are expected to conduct joint practices with both teams. The first will be held in Detroit and the second will, understandably, be held in New Jersey.
