Shocking pictures showing massive snakes in a Scots town have left locals rattled.
Images on social media circulating today appear to show the huge creatures on the ground by hi-viz clad workers in Greenock.
Residents of the Inverclyde town have been shocked by the pictures which show the snakes longer than a human.
It is understood the pictures were taken near a pub on the Drumfrochar Road.
A source told the Record that one of the animals has died.
It is unclear how many are loose.
The No Context Inverclyde Twitter account released a video of the slithery customers.
In the video a man with a distinct West Coast accent can be heard saying 'f****** h*** man look at the size of it."
Many locals saw the lighter side of the incident.
One wrote: "isssssssss toon's getting worse."
Another wrote: "Why is there 2 huge snakes just lying about Greenock..."
A third added: "This snake mystery in Greenock is easily the most terrifying yet exciting thing that’s happened in a while."
Another added: "Some size of snakes cutting about greenock but nothing compares to this rat my da found in 2012 ."
It is unclear what breed of snake the creatures are or how the animals came to be roaming around the streets.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish SPCA said they had received no reports of snakes in the town today.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 3.25pm on Tuesday, 2 February, officers received a report regarding online posts relating to a snake which was believed to have been in the Greenock area.
"Officers have conducted a search of the area and no animal was found. Enquiries are continuing into the report."
