Scottish Asda shopper spots 'creepy' giant rat crawling around the clothes section

A giant rat had reared its little head in a popular Scottish Asda store as it was spotted crawling around the clothes section.

Terrified shoppers looked on in horror as the little furry rodent had a jaunt around the superstore on Saturday January 28.

A video of the ordeal was shared on TikTok showed the rate scampering around the George section of the shop.

The four legged creature was seen travelling in the direction of clothing that was hanging out on display before it disappeared out of sight, the Daily Record reports.

Posting the clip on TikTok, the eye-witness said: "Rat found in Asda, Glasgow Paisley Linwood."

This was followed by a number of hashtags including "disgusting", "creepy", "weird" and "don't go".

It is thought that the rat may have managed to get into the store through a compost delivery and the issue was reported to staff at the Paisley supermarket on the Saturday night.

To shoppers' joy they will be glad to learn that it was removed that same evening.

The video on TikTok has since been shared over 2,500 times, raking in almost 10,000 likes. Floods of comments have also come in with many disgusted by the sight.

One person said: "I get my shopping in there all the time - raging!"

Another said: "We shall never be stepping foot in that place again."

A third added: "My skin is crawling", while another said: "It's OK people joking, but if there's one there's more, and they step on the food, pee on it too."

Others quipped that the little rodent was just in for some shopping.

One said: "It’s only in to buy a wee jacket…chill out," while another added: "Calm your jets it’s just doing it’s weekly shop."

A third, meanwhile, joked: "It’s okay guys it’s just my ex."

An Asda spokesperson said: "We have robust processes in place to uphold the highest standards of hygiene in our stores. As soon as we were made aware of this, a thorough investigation followed and the issue was resolved."
