Giannis Antetokounmpo said he’s open to playing for Chicago one day, and Bulls fans went predictably wild

It’s been a pretty dismal sports year in Chicago.

The White Sox can’t escape a cycle of reaching .500 only to fall right back under. The Cubs are buried in the bottom of the standings amid another rebuild. The Blackhawks are selling off every asset they can (and that’s truly the least of their worries). The Bears are an abject disaster—matched only by their home field. And what at first looked like a promising Bulls season was derailed by Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs.

But for all the hope the Greek Freak took away from the Windy City this year, he graciously gave it back on Sunday night. In an interview with Fox Chicago, Giannis explained he could see himself playing for the Bulls at some unknown point in the future.

Naturally, this sent Bulls Twitter on fire.

The respect Antetokounmpo has for the Jordan Era and the history of the franchise just south of Milwaukee is clearly real. And the fact that he’s talking so lovingly about a division rival is certainly noteworthy.

But, c’mon. Giannis is signed to the Bucks through 2025-26 and they continue to contend for championships. Let’s not go overboard. What’s that? It’s too late?

Ah, well, nevertheless.

Bulls fans dare to dream
