Giannis's parents, Charles and Veronica Antetokounmpo, left Nigeria in 1991 in search of a better life for their family. They settled in Athens, where Giannis was born on December 6, 1994. Growing up as an African immigrant in Greece, Giannis faced the challenges of racism. However, his passion for basketball became a driving force behind his dream to change his family's life.
In 2013, Giannis made the life-altering decision to declare himself eligible for the NBA draft. He signed his rookie contract with the Milwaukee Bucks on July 30 that same year.
