Gianni Buttice (@giannibuttice) is back with his latest set of FPL tips ahead of Gameweek 22, this week identifying three January transfers that would be great for Fantasy Premier League.
Gianni Buttice Tips: January Transfers That Would Be Great For FPL
Ben Chilwell to West Ham
Chilwell is a proven FPL asset and has previously cost 6 million because he’s been such an explosive performer. He’s been frozen out by Enzo Maresca at Chelsea and is surely going to be finding a new club this winter. A move to Serie A is reportedly an option, as are the links with former manager Graham Potter at West Ham.
Chilwell costs only 4.7 million, and if we see him at the London Stadium or indeed at another Premier League club, FPL managers will have every right to be excited. Whether he plays left back or left wing back, managers always use him in an attacking way and often put him on set pieces. With an eye for goal and a great engine to get up and down, he’s a high-upside pick no matter who he’s playing for.
Victor Osimhen to Manchester United
The Red Devils reportedly have an opportunity to cut Osimhen’s loan spell short if they trigger the £75 million release clause written into his contract by Napoli, and whilst moves for big names often come in the summer, United are clearly in need of a goalscorer.
Under Ruben Amorim we’ve seen signs of improvement in attack, but it’s clear the Portuguese manager is shopping for a number 9. If United could pull this one off, the Nigerian would likely come into the game at around 8.5 million, and with many expecting United to have a good second half of the season, Osimhen would be an immediate hit. His form in front of goal has translated well to his time in Turkey to date, where he has 13 goals from 16 starts.
Omar Marmoush to Manchester City
Whilst the two above moves are speculative, this one looks like a dead cert. The Eintracht Frankfurt forward is the Julian Alvarez replacement City never acquired. Capable of playing as a second striker or on the left, the Egyptian is a centre forward with 30 attacking returns (18 goals, 12 assists) from 24 games this season.
Surprisingly, City have lacked fire power this season, and the 25-year-old would add a lot to an attack that looks like it’s become complacent and is clearly missing something of late. Unknown to many who don’t watch the Bundesliga, Marmoush is not included in the elite lists of European-based forwards and would therefore carry a modest price tag in FPL. Given City’s form, he would likely play a major part in the second half of the season, and if minutes felt guaranteed, he could become an affordable route to an attack we know has the potential to be the best in the league once again.
