Gianluca Scamacca woes continue as West Ham striker dropped by agency over ‘trust’ issue

West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca has been dropped by his agency over a breakdown in “the trust necessary for a healthy professional relationship”.

World Soccer Agency announced their decision on Tuesday morning, confirming that Scamacca had remained keen to continue working with the organisation.

“World Soccer Agency formally ends its working relationship with Gianluca Scamacca,” a statement read. “Although the player expressed a desire to continue working together there was no longer the trust necessary for a healthy professional relationship.

“We thank the player for his time spent with WSA and wish him all the best for his future.”

West Ham signed Scamacca from Italian side Sassuolo in a £30.5million deal last summer and the striker quickly established himself as David Moyes’ first-choice centre-forward during the first half of the season.

The 24-year-old’s involvement has been limited by a knee injury since the World Cup break, however, and the January signing of Danny Ings from Aston Villa has increased competition in the position.

Ings marked his first Hammers start with two goals in Saturday’s crucial 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, with Scamacca an unused substitute in the game.
