Gianluca Scamacca, Michail Antonio, Nayef Aguerd - West Ham injury latest ahead of Arsenal clash

West Ham United manager David Moyes has provided an injury update on the Hammers' squad ahead of their Boxing Day trip to Arsenal.

Following the club's mid-season friendlies with Cambridge United, Udinese and Fulham, West Ham had six injury concerns off the back of the 1-1 draw with Fulham six days ago. Striker Michail Antonio (thigh) missed the the game as a precaution.

Fellow forward Gianluca Scamacca was forced off in the first half with concerns over an ankle issue, while defender Nayef Aguerd missed Morocco's final three games at the 2022 World Cup with concerns over a groin issue.

Scamacca and Antonio currently remain a doubt for the game, with Aguerd also uncertain, not due to return to Rush Green until tomorrow following his hand in Morocco's record-breaking World Cup run.

"I'm not sure if they're going to be available yet," said Moyes. "Gianluca's got an ankle injury, Micks [Antonio] has got a bit of a calf strain, so we're hoping that they've both got a chance. I think they're both doubtful.

"I think all of the clubs in the Premier League, you will never know who is fit and available from who has returned yet from the World Cup.

On Aguerd, Moyes added: "He had a virus and he had an injury as well, so that didn't help. Obviously they were also part of his reasons for not playing in the game that he didn't start. He's not back in yet, but we're hoping he will be back in tomorrow and we will have a look to see how he is.

"I've said for a a while, we signed him [in the summer] we wanted the year before and couldn't get him and we've waited a long time. I thought he played well, the game's he's played. He's a really good footballer so hopefully, he will add to us and improve us in the second half of the season."

Left-back Aaron Cresswell (hamstring) and winger Maxwel Cornet (calf) both missed the final two mid-season friendlies and remain doubts for the game. Centre-back Kurt Zouma will also miss out after undergoing knee surgery last month.
