A teenager has been charged with the murder of 18-year-old Ghulam Sadiq who was fatally stabbed in east London on Saturday.
Ghulam was found suffering multiple knife wounds outside a pizza restaurant in High Road, Leytonstone at 2.15pm.
Police gave urgent first aid until the arrival of the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance but despite the best efforts of all involved, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A special post-mortem examination gave the provisional cause of death as sharp force trauma to the back.
On Tuesday, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in Walsall and has since been charged with murder and with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He will appear in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Thursday morning.
Speaking to the Standard after the incident, a local business owner said of Ghulam: “If I was ever outside my store and he saw me, he would stop by ask after me, my staff and my business.
“To think that such a young life has been taken, is an utter tragedy.”
