Ghostface comes to New York in teaser for chilling movie Scream VI ahead of release

Ghostface has come to New York for a sixth chilling offering from the Scream movie franchise.

The sequel, features returning stars Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and leads of the fifth movie Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega as sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter, respectively.

And with the eagerly awaited sequel due to hit the big screen in March, the movie's producers have today (December 15th) dropped a one-minute teaser clip showing the cast in a dimly lit subway train.

The trailer begins with the words: “In a city of millions, no one hears you scream.”

Apparently set on Halloween night, the characters are seen on a subway carriage is full of people dressed in masks and spooky costumes.

However, the space quickly begins to fill with threatening figures wearing the Ghostface mask associated with the franchise, until one suddenly lashes out.

As the frightening scene unfolds the words: "No one hears you scream," flashes in between cuts. Before one of the women are grabbed by the face by the masked villain.

Scream VI is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, with original franchise writer and creator Kevin Williamson returning as executive producer.

Details of the plot of Scream VI are closely guarded but Melissa Barrera has teased to Collider that the new movie is "potentially a hundred times gorier".

She said: "There was a saying on set because Matt (Bettinelli-Olpin) and Tyler (Gillett) were always asking for more blood and more sweat."

Mason Gooding, Hayden Panettiere and Jasmin Savoy Brown are also reprising their roles for the movie — a direct sequel to January’s Scream, which relaunched the horror series after a decade-long break.

But the cast will we be missing two of the original stars of the series as David Arquette's Dewey was killed off in Scream and Neve Campbell's Sidney isn't returning.

Campbell previously told People Magazine, she felt unhappy with the offer made to her by the studio.

She explained: "I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise for 25 years."

The trailer also confirms the film will be released in cinemas on March 10 2023.
