'Ghost caught on camera' in one of Glasgow’s most haunted buildings

PARANORMAL investigators believe they have caught one of Glasgow's most famous historical figures on camera after a séance at one of the city’s haunted buildings.

Experts say the image shows Lady Dinah Pearce, who gifted the Pearce Institute to the people of Govan in 1906 in memory of her late husband, Sir William Pearce, under whose guidance Fairfield Shipyard became the biggest and most technically advanced in the world.

Staff and visitors to the Pearce have reported ghostly sightings for years in both the building itself and the sprawling network of tunnels that run beneath its foundations, but the team at Paranormal Scotland Ltd say a new photograph is the best proof yet of its spooky past.

Fraser Skillen, founder and owner of the firm, says the moment is one of the most significant examples of contact with the afterlife he has ever seen.

“We had been calling out to Lady Pearce during the séance and there were a few taps and knocks, but nothing of any great significance or note. Then we looked at the photos that had been taken and seen this.

“We can clearly see the outline of a face and clothing within the apparition. I believe it is Lady Pearce because we had been trying to make that contact and there have been many reports of her ghost being seen around the building previously.”

The photo was taken in the Pearce Institute’s Fairfield Room during an investigation on January 11, directly after the end of a late-night séance where participants had sat around a table and called out for Lady Pearce to make herself known.

The photo wasn’t the only nerve-jangling moment during the evening as the team say they were also able to communicate with the spirit of a little girl using specialist EMF meters, scientific instruments used to measure electromagnetic fields.

Skillen said: “This was some of the best direct communication I have seen. We were asking if the spirit was playing hide and seek, and in response to our questions, the meters would light up. We managed to establish her name was Emilia and have quite detailed communication."

Skillen, 40, from East Kilbride, says he is incredibly excited to share the discoveries.

He added: “For me, this is proof that life goes on, a clear image of a presence from the afterlife. This is the most significant moment for our group thus far. To capture a spirit on camera like this is so incredibly rare, and to capture an image with this level of detail is thrilling.

“While the Pearce Institute may not carry the fame of Scotland’s castles, jails, or underground vaults, it remains a treasure trove of paranormal activity. Its history, combined with its inexplicable phenomena, makes it a location that stands apart and we can’t wait to return and see what we can uncover next.”
