Ghana have appointed Chris Hughton as their new national team manager.
The 64-year-old worked as an advisor to Otto Addo’s side at the World Cup before the coach returned to Germany to continue his work as a talent-spotter for Borussia Dortmund.
The Black Stars departed at the group stage despite beating South Korea and coming close to snatching a draw off Portugal.
On Sunday, the Ghana Football Association announced Hughton as their new manager but did not reveal the length of his contract.
Former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng will stay on as assistant coach along with Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
Hughton’s last job in the dugout came with Nottingham Forest in the Championship but he was sacked after just under a year in charge. He spent most of his playing career at Tottenham, where he later worked among the coaching staff.
His first assignment as Ghana boss will be a double-header against Angola in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.
