Get paid up to £40k a year to watch ‘Too Hot to Handle’ and other dating shows

A dating app that matches people based on their emotional connection to music wants to pay someone £100 per episode (approximately £40k a year) to watch dating shows in 2022 - like Too Hot to Handle and Love Island.

The app, POM, wants to hire a ‘Dating Show Dissector’ to watch and dissect dating shows, to figure out where contestants are going wrong and help to guide singletons so they can avoid making the same mistakes, all for the app’s own content.

The app hopes to find an enthusiastic dating show fan to write content about upcoming dating shows in 2022, like Too Hot to Handle, The Cabins and Love Island, following their boom in popularity over recent years.

The successful candidate will be paid £100 for every episode watched and to write down notes that analyse the events of each show, outlining the ‘dos and don'ts of dating’ that contestants might be displaying.

The app has shared that working hours are flexible due to TV show schedules, however in return applicants will earn £100 per episode, which equates to approximately a £40k a year salary as the app predicts the professional will be required to watch an average of 7 hours worth of TV each week.

POM has also confirmed that the cost for TV subscriptions and licenses for the entire employment period will be covered, including a Netflix and NOWTV subscription.

The notes produced by the ‘Dating Show Dissector’ will be used to form content for POM’s social media channels, email newsletter and blog.

Creators of the app have stated that it is important that potential candidates have a passion for watching dating shows, but not someone who just watches for the drama but who is also interested in how humans interact when it comes to dating.

Those looking to apply for the role are not expected to be professional writers as the company is looking for ‘talent, not experience’.

When asked about the roles, Vihan Patel, founder of POM, said: “Dating shows are clearly no longer just a guilty pleasure - everyone seems to be watching them! We thought it would be a great idea to take everyone’s favourite TV genre and turn it into some valuable life lessons and amazing content for our users.

“What’s also really exciting about this role is that we’re not looking for someone with masses of experience. What’s important is that our new hire brings the right level of passion and vibe to the team. Plus, we think this is the perfect job to start early 2022 with; people can get cosy and get paid for something they might already be doing for free!”

Applicants must be aged 18 and over.

Applications close on the 28th January 2022 and anyone wishing to apply for the role can do so here: https://www.discoverpom.com/blog/get-paid-too-hot-to-handle
