'Get him off!' Johnny Sexton livid as rival commits two red card offences inside a minute

Cell C Sharks centre Rohan Janse Van Rensburg was sent off following two dangerous hits on Leinster's Garry Ringrose and Ross Byrne in the space of a minute that were both worthy of red cards.

The incidents occurred during Leinster's 54-34 victory over Sharks in a hugely entertaining encounter at the RDS Arena in Dublin.

The first shot on Byrne saw van Rensburg lead with the shoulder and make direct contact with the replacement's head.

The second incident, which occurred moments later, saw van Rensburg leading with the forearm and making contact with Ringrose's head.

Footage appears to show an angry Ireland legend and Leinster star Johnny Sexton saying to the officials: "That's twice! Get him off!"

Evans explained his decision to van Rensburg, with the Sharks centre exchanging a look of remorse to the referee, tapping the Welshman's back.

"I've got a contact direct to the head by white 13, there's no mitigation there, it's reckless, red card" said Evans.

Despite it being clear to viewers that it was indeed a duo of dangerous challenges, fans became embroiled in debate on Twitter as they discussed Sexton's involvement with the referee throughout the match.

"Sexton is a petulant child though. Trying to get a Sharks player sent off for a clear rugby incident. It's so, so easy to hate him when he acts like this though." said one fan.

"I’m a Leinster fan. But one of these days, a referee has to be strong enough to card Sexton for his constant verbals. Really tiresome and counter-productive. And just wrong too - don’t want that s***e in rugby," said another.
