Get behind the bar at The St. Regis

With the short arrival of Volkan Ibil, the new bar manager, the St. Regis Bar Bangkok is gearing up to launch a mixology masterclass next month.

On the third Saturday of every month, starting in February, the bar will host a cocktail master class. "The Art Of Drinking Masterclass", led by Ibil will be a 90-minute hands-on workshop from 6-7.30pm, which is the time frame that pays homage to the glamour of the original House Of Astor, where the traditions around the art of drinking began in 1932 at the famed King Cole Bar at The St. Regis New York.

To us, this schedule is nothing but good timing. Participants can kick off the night with a glass of Champagne from the Champagne Sabering Ritual at 6pm. Participants get to sample the signature Violet Hour Martini served during "The Violet Hour" at 7.30pm. Also, expect to see Ibil and crew showcasing martini-throwing theatrics with your eyes and camera.

The cocktail workshop is priced at B780 per person and is limited to 10 people. Cocktail stations are set up at the bar counter, with a tiny shaker and ingredients for the concoction of the day. The menu is a rotation of the 40 new York City-inspired cocktails plus Ibil's signature.

The class begins with an introduction to the cocktail world, followed by a crash course in mixology. You even get to shake the drink behind the bar with him!

St. Regis Bar is open daily from 12-11.45pm, with live entertainment every Thursday through Saturday from 8.30pm onwards. Call 02-207-7777.
