Gerwyn Price Hits Back At Mike De Decker & Dave Chisnall

Former world champion Gerwyn Price has hit back at Mike De Decker and Dave Chisnall amid complaints over his Premier League darts inclusion.

‘The Iceman’ has accused De Decker and Chisnall of ‘throwing their toys out of the pram’ over their comments about his and Nathan Aspinall’s inclusion in the upcoming 2025 Premier League.

Gerwyn Price Hits Back At Mike De Decker & Dave Chisnall

To some people, Gerwyn Price’s inclusion in the 2025 Premier League Darts came as somewhat of a shock.

The former world champion had a poor year on the PDC circuit in 2024, probably his worst ever since being a professional darts player. That being said, ‘The Iceman’ was sill selected in the eight-man line-up for the 2025 Premier League Darts.

The Premier League sees the PDC Order of Merit Top 4 automatically selected, which meant Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross were all guaranteed a spot in the Premier League, The remaining four spots are up for grabs, with Sky Sports and the PDC picking them.

This year, Gerwyn Price, Nathan Aspinall, Stephen Bunting and Chris Dobey were the lucky four to complete the Premier League line-up. Bunting and Dobey’s inclusions were most definitely justified, but there have been some questions surrounding Price and Aspinall’s inclusion.

Some rival players such as reigning World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker and world number six Dave Chisnall are two players who aren’t pleased with Price’s inclusion in the annual darting roadshow.

De Decker has called his omission ‘scandalous’, stating that Gerwyn Price and Nathan Aspinall don’t deserve to be there. Both Price and Aspinall have come under fire from the Belgian and ‘Chizzy’, in particular ‘The Asp’.

De Decker told Belgian media: “If Price performs badly in the first few weeks, he will start complaining again.” He also had a dig at Aspinall, stating that the only reason he is there is because darts fand love his walk-on song, Mr Brightside by The Killers.

Price: ‘Throwing Your Toys Out Of The Pram Doesn’t Work’

Gerwyn Price isn’t a man to keep quiet, and has himself hit back at Mike De Decker and Dave Chisnall in a recent interview with talkSPORT.

‘The Iceman’ understands that he didn’t play his best darts in 2024, but is thankful of the opportunity to once again compete in the Premier League for a sixth straight year.

“I mean every player, Dave Chisnall, Mike De Decker, they always have their opinions.

“They are right to have a say, but the PDC put in who they want to put in. I think the likes of me and Nathan Aspinall have been consistent for the last eight or nine years throughout the PDC, not just the Premier League.

“I had a blip [in 2024], and Nathan being injured, not being involved would have been a little bit harsh, I think. There’s a couple of boys who have won majors and haven’t got in, so throwing your toys out of the pram doesn’t really work,” Price told talkSPORT.

The 2025 Premier League Darts begins on February 6th in Belfast, before heading all around Europe for the next 16 weeks. Luke Littler is the pre-tournament favourite with the best UK betting sites to retain his Premier League title.
