Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch has fled Ireland just over four weeks after being acquitted in the Regency murder trial.
Gardai received information the 60-year-old had bolted in recent days and it’s thought he travelled to Lanzarote, Spain – after spending quality time with his wife, family and friends. Investigators will liaise with their European counterparts to keep tabs on the criminal mastermind’s movements. A source said: “Hutch was always going to go and the most surprising thing about the past month has been he stayed that long.”
Hutch had to travel to Spain to access his vast €10million wealth and manage his portfolio. He walked free from the Criminal Courts of Justice on April 17 after being found not guilty of the murder of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in 2016. He has since been living at his plush Clontarf home in the leafy suburbs of Dublin.

Gardai were monitoring his movements at all times and had upped patrols around his property. But multiple sources have confirmed to the Irish Mirror he is now out of Ireland.
One said: “The information the gardai have is that he has left. “Who knows what the future holds but he may never come back here.” Detectives who previously investigated The Monk also believe he will use disguises, burner phones and move around regularly to stay under the radar.
Although he had not received a Garda Information Message, warning him his life was under immediate threat, sources say Kinahan associates would attempt to strike if they knew his location. Sources also believe Hutch is concerned over the further investigations being carried out on him.
