Gerry Adams thanks Cork on behalf of Antrim GAA for kind gesture after their match

It was a big win for the Rebels on Saturday in the All-Ireland hurling championship - and even though Gerry Adams was supporting the opposition, he still had praise for Cork team, reports CorkBeo.

Cork headed north to take on Antrim hurlers in the All-Ireland Senior Championship preliminary quarter-final at Belfast's Corrigan Park and came out victorious with a 3-27 to 2-19 win.

It's Galway next week for the Rebels in the full quarter-finals in Semple Stadium in Thurles - it'll be a big day with a double-header. Both games are set to be televised by RTÉ with the Cork-Galway kicking things off at 1.45 pm followed by Clare against Wexford at 3.45 pm.

Both fixtures will be decided on the day - and Cork's hurlers can be sure of some strong support from Antrim as they made plenty of friends amongst the Saffron faithful.

The Rebels also impressed Sinn Fein's Gerry Adams - who tweeted out his thanks for a kind gesture from the Cork kit man.

Taking to social media, former Sinn Finn leader Gerry Adams, expressed his thanks for a bag full of junior jersies that were brought north and handed out to the kids who came to the game.

"Well done to Cork and especially to the Kit Man who opened a bag of junior gansais and gave them to young Gaels who came to watch the game today,"

"A great gesture. An flathuil. Míle buiochas."

"Up The Rebels."

Cork and Antrim may be at opposite ends of the island - but it looks like there's no lack of respect and friendship between the two hurling counties.
