The Iowa State NCAA college football football team warms up as a logo of the Jack Trice era is displayed at the center of the field to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Trice's death, before Iowa S

Germany's Round of 16 clash with Denmark was interrupted by a sudden and intense weather storm on Saturday night. The match, which was still tied at 0-0 with just over half an hour played, was halted as lightning and thunder struck the field, prompting referee Michael Oliver to send the teams back to their locker rooms.

The storm caught organizers off guard, with hailstones pounding the stadium roof and causing chaos. An announcement in multiple languages informed spectators that the match had been suspended due to adverse weather conditions, leaving fans and players alike seeking shelter from the elements.

Despite the weather disruption, Germany had dominated the early stages of the game, creating several scoring opportunities. Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala came close to breaking the deadlock, with Denmark's goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel making crucial saves to keep his team in the game.

Nico Schlotterbeck thought he had given Germany the lead early on, but his goal was disallowed for a foul. The winner of the match would face either Spain or Georgia in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

After a delay of approximately 24 minutes, the players returned to the field for a brief warm-up before the match resumed. Stadium staff worked tirelessly to repair the waterlogged areas of the pitch, ensuring that the game could continue without further interruptions.
