The Germany Euro 2024 squad is nearly complete, with manager Julian Nagelsmann having announced a 27-man preliminary team as preparations get underway for the tournament on home soil.
With four goalkeepers selected, though, Nagelsmann will have the tough decision of omitting just one of his shotstoppers ahead of UEFA's deadline for final Euro 2024 squad submissions on June 7 - seven days before their opening game against Scotland.
Crucially, the Germany Euro 2024 squad doesn't feature either Mats Hummels or Leon Goretzka, with Naglesmann stating that he did talk to both players in an attempt to explain his decision.
“I had long talk with both Hummels and Goretzka. They're very disappointed as they’re out of the list," Nagelsmann said. “I tried to explain why they weren't included. It's understandable that they are sad."
Despite that, there's plenty of reasons for Germany to get excited about Euro 2024, as they aim to be crowned champions of Europe for the first time since 1996.
With Antonio Rudiger and Jonathan Tah in defence, Toni Kroos, Ilkay Gundogan, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz in midfield, and forwards such as Kai Havertz and Thomas Muller, Germany head into Euro 2024 not only as hosts with the confidence of a nation backing them, but also as one of the favourites.
Qualifying automatically could well have had a detrimental impact on Die Mannschaft's preparations, though, with the three-time winners having not played a competitive match since the World Cup 2022 group stages. Poor performances also saw Hansi Flick become the first Germany boss to ever be sacked, as Germany stuttered in friendlies against the likes of Japan, Turkey and Austria.
Their Euros group also contains Hungary and Switzerland, meaning the Germans are certainly confident of progressing to the knockout stages unscathed - especially after March's friendly wins over France and the Netherlands.
As with every team at the tournament, FourFourTwo will bring you all the latest on Germany as we report live from the European Championship. Every game is available to watch live, too, while we have details on every Euro 2024 squad.

Germany Euro 2024 squad numbers
The Germany Euro 2024 squad numbers will be confirmed when Julian Nagelsmann closer to the tournament kicking off.
Germany manager: Julian Nagelsmann
The youngest-ever manager set to take charge of a team at a European Championships, 36-year-old Nagelsmann has been a revelation in German football since landing the top job at Hoffenheim in 2016, at just 28.
He has been on the ascendancy ever since, taking Hoffenheim to the Champions League before reaching the German Cup final with RB Leipzig in 2021. And while Bayern Munich sacked him midway through his second season, Nagelsmann had secured the Bundesliga the campaign prior and ended his tenure with a 71.4 per cent win rate.
With his contract extended until after the 2026 World Cup, Nagelsmann now has the security to plant his style on the Germany Euro 2024 squad.
Germany's star player
Jamal Musiala
While the Germany Euro 2024 squad will have plenty of experienced players in it, such as Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller, Joshua Kimmich, Toni Kroos and Ilkay Gundogan, it's Musiala who has the magic to perform on the big stage and drag his nation to the latter stages of the tournament.
His incredible ball manipulations ties defenders in knots, with his rangy legs knicking deft touches away from them at the last second. Though still only young, he's already closing in on 30 caps for Germany, while he's already cemented himself in the Bayern Munich team as one of their most important players.
Kits
Home
Die Mannschaft have a pattern resembling the logo of the old DFB – the German football governing body, making this one ornate without being over the top. The shoulders fading from black to red to yellow is certainly set to stand out, though.
The Germany Euro 2024 home kit can be bought from Adidas.
Away
There's a way to handle a pink shirt and this is it. It isn't garish, it's tasteful, with purple gradients making it onto the shirt – a nice string from the home top – and white logos. It's lovely.
The Germany Euro 2024 away kit is available to buy from Adidas.
FAQs
How many players are Germany allowed to take to Euro 2024?
After originally confirming that Euro 2024 squads would consist of 23 players, a reduction from the 26-player teams seen in recent tournaments, UEFA has reneged on that idea after pushback from certain nations.
Now, each Euro 2024 squad will have 26 players, allowing the likes of Julian Nagelsmann to pick a more-rounded team without the added stress of leaving certain individuals at home.
