German prince legally adopts 27-year-old to inherit his title and look after him

A German 'prince' has told how he has legally adopted a 27-year-old man to be his heir and help him when he is older.

Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt- who was previously married to Hollywood actress Zsa Zsa Gabor - says he has known Kevin Feucht for seven years.

The unusual decision is part of his attempt to preserve his lineage - after he himself was adopted aged 35

According to TMZ, Kevin has officially changed his last name on his birth certificate and will be living with his new father, as well as helping out with bills and medical care.

The pair will now star in a docuseries about the adoption journey.

Frédéric told the New York Post: “I wanted to show lonely people that they do not need to be alone.

"You can adopt a grown-up and have somebody who helps you from day one. You don’t have to raise a child.”

He was adopted as an adult in 1980 by Princess Marie Auguste of Anhalt - after paying her for the 'royal' title

The German monarchy was abolished in 1918, with the prince admitting to the Post: "The titles still exist but there is no more power to nobility."

Now he says he wanted to extend the title to someone else, telling the paper: "I would like to adopt somebody and give him the tool. In America, it works. People want to know who you are and that is how they judge you.”

He met Kevin through his parents - and says he is still good friends with them both, despite the unusual situation.

Kevin says he's happy with the situation too - and plans to stay at Frédéric's home in return for cooking for him, making sure bills get paid and assisting around the home.

He added: “My dad is happy about it. I love my parents and will always love them.”

He has previously adopted five sons — all of them while married to Gabor, who all paid for the title, according to the Prince.

In the golden age of Hollywood, Zsa Zsa Gabor was the reality star queen – less famous for her work than her nine marriages and A-List life.

She was married to Frederic from 1986 until her death aged 99 in 2016

“They left. One guy went to Dubai and showed off,” said the prince, adding that another used the title to promote a chain of strip clubs in Germany.

“What am I supposed to do? Once they had the title, they took off. Zsa Zsa said you have to marry a lot of guys until you find the right guy. I think it is the same thing with adopting.”
