Geri Horner is not shying away from her upcoming 50th birthday and instead she has decided to embrace it.
The former Spice Girls singer will celebrate the milestone age on August 6 and to mark the occasion she was photographed at her home by photographer Bartek Szmigulski for the sophomore issue of Amazing.
Speaking to the publication, she said: “Rather than saying I am 50, I’m saying I get to be 50. I’ve got half a century under my belt!”
Horner also spoke about her unique bond with bandmates Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C.
The mum-of-two said: “I care for them so much and would always be there for them. They know that if anything was up, or if they needed my support, they’d have it.”
The Spice Girls are reportedly going to reunite at Horner’s birthday party where they will perform together as a five-piece for the first time since the closing ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012.
According to a source, the bash will be a “seated, black tie do” and the theme is “Timeless Elegance”.
“It’s being held in a Grade II listed manor in Oxfordshire which, conveniently, is just a stone’s throw from David and Victoria’s Cotswolds manor,” the insider told The Sun..
“The girls can’t wait to reunite and the plan is for all five of them to sing Happy Birthday and get up on stage to join Geri for a number — possibly Wannabe.
“One of the girls turning 50 is a massive deal — they all want to mark the occasion in style, and reuniting after a decade seems the perfect time.”
The Spice Girls were originally formed in 1994 and went on to become the best-selling girl group of all time, with a catalogue of hits including Spice Up Your Life and 2 Become 1.
Horner left the band in 1998 and the remaining members went their separate ways in 2000.
All five members reunited for a string of arena shows in 2007 and they got back together again to play at 13 stadiums across the UK in 2019, minus Beckham, who decided not to take part.
Recently Horner was awarded with an honorary doctorate from Sheffield Hallam University recognising her philanthropic work.
