Georginio Rutter's first words as a Leeds United player as record signing outlines his strengths

Leeds United record signing Georginio Rutter is looking get fans off their seats at Elland Road after making the switch from Hoffenheim.

The striker has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with the Whites in what is believed to be a club record deal in the region of up to £35m after add-ons.

The French Under-21 international is excited to be in the Premier League with Jesse Marsch's side, and can't wait to get started, with a potential debut against Brentford next weekend. Rutter is inelligible for Wednesday night's FA Cup replay with Cardiff City, but will be introduced to the home crowd.

When asked what he will bring to the Leeds team, a delighted Rutter said: "I am very happy to be here and I'm very excited to improve my football, and for the fans and the confidence - I'm hope I'm good.

"I have a lot of energy and technique. Dribbling is my favourite on the pitch. Football is for the fans, and they are very important for the club and I want to do more, bring a lot of energy for the fans in the stadium."

Rutter does have at least one familiar face to help him settle into life in Yorkshire, with international team-mate Illan Meslier already a firm friend. And he revealed the goalkeeper had already been in touch with offers of help.

"Before I came here, he (Meslier) said it's really a family and the fans are amazing here in Leeds," he added. "He said if I needed any help tell me and that's it. It's the best league here, and I'll put my full energy into the club."

Rutter will wear the No 24 shirt for Leeds and is the club's second signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of Max Wober.
