Georgian home off famous city street has stunning interior

The ECHO has taken a look inside a historic home for sale on a cobbled Liverpool city centre street.

The charming mid-terrace is located on the historic Mount Street, a picturesque cobbled strip off Hope Street.

The property spans more than 1,600 sq ft over four floors and is located in one of the city's most historic neighbourhoods - the Georgian Quarter.

Entering via stone steps and a solid wood door, guests are welcomed into the living room. The historic property boasts high ceilings and an open fire, as well as as wooden flooring.

Original features include restored cornices, sash windows and mahogany handrails, all of which are illuminated by a glass skylight which floods the central staircase with natural light.

The designer Bulthaup kitchen is to the rear of the ground floor and boasts a Lacanche range cooker and ample space for a dining table. There's also an extension which houses a utility room and toilet. Downstairs in the former cellar is another two reception rooms.

The four spacious bedrooms are spread across the top two floors, along with a WC on the first floor and a modern family bathroom with a walk-in shower on the second level.

The house is on the market for £650,000 with Hunters, which hailed it as "exquisite". The listing added: "This rare opportunity to own a piece of Liverpool's rich history won't last long."

Mount Street itself is an excellent location. Lying off Hope Street, it's near the area's many bars and restaurants, and is also home to the stunning Liverpool Institute building, home of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA).

The Liverpool Institute for Boys can trace its roots back to 1825 and was attended by Sir Paul McCartney and George Harrison in the 1950s. Sir Paul supported its restoration and transformation into LIPA in the 1990s.

Houses rarely go up for sale on Mount Street. Three properties have changed hands there since 2020, for between £395,000 and £542,000.
