Authorities in Florida arrested a 22-year-old Georgia woman, Taylon Nichelle Celestine, on Monday following a shooting incident believed to be directed by 'God' during the solar eclipse. The Florida Highway Patrol charged Celestine with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a weapon.
The incident unfolded in Holmes County when troopers responded to reports of an active shooter. Celestine had reportedly checked out of a local hotel and informed staff that she was embarking on a shooting spree guided by divine instructions related to the solar eclipse.
Celestine was observed driving a purple Dodge Challenger with Georgia license plates onto Interstate 10, heading westbound. She allegedly opened fire on a vehicle within five miles of entering the interstate, hitting the vehicle multiple times. The driver sustained minor injuries from broken glass and a bullet graze but managed to pull over safely.
Continuing her alleged spree, Celestine reportedly shot at another vehicle near the 107-mile marker, injuring the driver in the neck. The injured driver was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Florida troopers conducted a traffic stop approximately nine miles from the scene and arrested Celestine without resistance. A search of her vehicle yielded a 9mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle.
Celestine was subsequently taken to Holmes County Jail and booked on multiple charges, including attempted murder. The motive behind the shooting spree remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together the events leading up to the incident.
