Georgia without key WR against Alabama

The Georgia Bulldogs are expected to be without Vanderbilt transfer wide receiver London Humphreys against the Alabama Crimson Tide. Humphreys, who reportedly has mononucleosis, has two receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown this season.

Humphreys had an impressive touchdown against the Clemson Tigers in Week 1. Humphreys’ speed is something opposing defenses have to account for when he is on the field.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound sophomore receiver has played in three games this season, but he only recorded statistics in Georgia’s Week 1 game. With Humphreys out, Georgia will have to lean more on wide receiver Arian Smith as a deep threat. Dillon Bell, Dominic Lovett, Anthony Evans and Colbie Young all figure to play more snaps with Humphreys out.

Georgia and Alabama will release their official SEC injury report on Wednesday. Georgia is also dealing with several injuries along the defensive line.

“We’re in a good place,” said Georgia wide receiver Arian Smith on the Bulldogs’ wide receiver room. “We’ve made some plays on the perimeter, and helped our team when we needed plays. I feel like we’ve come a long way, and we’ve still got ways to improve.”

Georgia needs more production out of Arian Smith and other wide receivers against Alabama. The Bulldogs had just 160 passing yards in their last outing against Kentucky.

Dawgs 247 reported the news of Humphreys’ injury status.
