Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey receives lofty pro comparison from draft analyst

There is little disagreement that Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey was one of the most dominant receivers in the country when he was on the field this last season, and it’s fair to say he took advantage of just about every cornerback that lined up against him. Entering the 2024 NFL draft now McConkey is getting every typical “white slot receiver” comparison under the sun from Cooper Kupp to Hunter Renfrow. NFL draft analyst Mike Renner has a different take, however:

Antonio Brown is about as lofty of a comparison as one can get, and while Renner provided plenty of caveats as to not say these are the same players, what Renner puts out there makes sense.

McConkey really is one of the best separators in space in this class and has similar strengths to Brown. While McConkey may or may not enter the same stratosphere of Brown’s elite level of play, it is interesting to see diverse opinions on the Georgia stud.

My own personal comparison for McConkey takes us back a little bit, as I see a lot of former Jets receiver Laveranues Coles in the Bulldogs game. Only time will tell how McConkey will turn out, and if any of these comparisons landed on the right spot.
