Prediction: Georgia wins, covers

The hangover from last year’s title in Indianapolis is long gone. Georgia will show that it isn’t going to be complacent and dominate Oregon in what should be a de facto home game. Lanning knows how to attack Georgia’s offensive personnel, but stopping it is going to be a much bigger problem. Look for Georgia to come out on a mission early, wear Oregon down and lean on the Ducks in the fourth quarter to pull away and cover. Prediction: Georgia (minus-17)

Predictions:

Spread: Take Georgia -16.5

Over/Under: Take the over

The Bulldogs lost two key running backs from last year and Kendall Milton is questionable for Saturday, but they typically use a committee approach and senior Kenny McIntosh has plenty of experience behind a talented offensive line.

Expect them to bully an Oregon defense that doesn’t have the athleticism or physicality to keep pace. I’m leaning toward the Bulldogs on the spread.

Prediction: Georgia 27, Oregon 17

Oregon will bring the fight, and the chances will be there for the offense to take over, but it won’t be able to do it. This isn’t going to be a total wipeout, but Georgia will get up early and flex its national championship muscle when needed in the second half.

Prediction: Georgia 31, Oregon 17

Oregon has largely struggled against SEC opponents, and since this is a home away from home for Georgia, look for the Bulldogs to be comfortable in the setting, and more comfortable as a coaching staff.

2
Reed Wallach - FanSided: Georgia wins and covers - but take the under

Griffin Zetterberg-USA TODAY Sports

Prediction: Georgia 30, Oregon 13 (take the under)

My favorite look on this game is the under. Nix-led teams haven’t scored more than 14 points on Georgia and while there are plenty of blue chippers on the offensive line for the Ducks, scoring may be a chore.

With that being said, while I’m high on UGA’s offense this season, Lanning knows this team inside and out and has a ton of returning talent to work with. I think this game is very methodical early and Georgia puts together a convincing, but low scoring win. I have this total pegged at 50 so I like getting in at under 53.5. This feels something like something in the range of 30-13 Georgia in the opener.

Bill Bender - Sporting News: Georgia wins, does not cover

News Joshua L Jones

Prediction: Georgia 32, Oregon 20

Bennett is back at quarterback for Georgia, and that connection with Bowers is a difference-maker. Bennett was efficient in those playoff victories against Alabama and Michigan, and if he avoids turnovers and completes 66% of his passes the Bulldogs will be in great shape. Oregon does have talent, and it seems a bit undervalued all things considered. Those last three losses to SEC schools were by an average of 7.6 points per game. The Bulldogs will win here, but with Lanning the Ducks hang around longer than expected, and Smart holds off on a last-minute TD while running out the clock.
