Georgia started sluggishly in the season opener against UT Martin. It led 17-0 at halftime before working into form in the second half and walking away with a 48-7 win.

Last week was our first chance to see the new offense under first-year offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and new starting quarterback Carson Beck. While the showing wasn’t perfect, Georgia certainly didn’t break out the full playbook.

Beck missed some easy throws and lost his poise in the pocket at times, but he took care of the football, finishing 21-of-31 passing for 294 yards with a touchdown and another score on the ground.

The Bulldogs’ defense looked the part of a Kirby Smart led unit. While the secondary was impressive, Georgia did allow the Skyhawks 134 yards rushing with a 4.6 yard average on the ground.

Ball State played Kentucky hard last week and was up 7-3 in the second quarter before the Wildcats’ offense found its footing and pulled away for a 44-14 win.

We expect Georgia to show improvement this week as starters return to the lineup and SEC play approaches.
