The Georgia Bulldogs are looking healthier ahead of the SEC championship game against the Texas Longhorns. The SEC championship is at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Georgia running backs Branson Robinson (knee) and Trevor Etienne (ribs) hope to return to action against Texas.
“We’re hopeful to get Branson (Robinson) back and bring him back at the speed that he’s comfortable with,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said.
“They’ve been taking part in some parts of practice, taking reps. Hopefully those guys are able to do something. They’re both listed as questionable right now,” said Smart on Etienne and defensive lineman Christen Miller.
True freshman Nate Frazier is expected to continue to take the majority of carries for the UGA backfield.
“He’s (Georgia defensive back Joenel Aguero) out of the club now and in a much better position to be able to practice and play,” Smart said. “He’s practiced each week and stayed with us. It’s just been tougher, as you can imagine, playing with the use of really one hand. He’s back now and able to do a lot more this week.”
Georgia defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, who is a former five-star recruit, is out for the season.
Texas has several injuries at running back, but that’s nothing new. The Longhorns have leaned on Quintrevion Wisner, who has more than 150 rushing yards in consecutive games entering the SEC championship.
