Georgia RB Trevor Etienne’s DUI charges have been dropped

Georgia Bulldogs running back Trevor Etienne’s DUI charges have reportedly been dropped. Etienne transferred to Georgia from Florida this offseason and was arrested in March.

“Charges of DUI less safe and DUI under 21 were dismissed while Etienne pled no contest to a reckless driving charge from the early morning March 24 incident and pled guilty to underage possession of alcohol, failure to maintain lane and a window tint violation,” said Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner Herald.

Etienne will still face 12 months of probation and a fine of over $800. Additionally, Etienne has to complete 40 hours of community service and  will be subject to random drug and alcohol tests.

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart commented on Etienne’s arrest earlier this offseason. “In addition to our university discipline process, we’ve got all of the stuff we deal with inside house. Disappointed in his decision-making, but he is a good kid,” said Smart.

It is unclear if Georgia will suspend Etienne. The Bulldogs previously suspended star defensive back Javon Bullard for one game for a similar issue. Georgia opens the 2024 college football season in Week 1 against the Clemson Tigers in Atlanta.

During the 2023 college football season, Etienne recorded 131 carries for 753 rushing yards and eight touchdowns for Florida. The talented running back added 21 receptions for 172 yards and a touchdown as a receiver.

Etienne is expected to hold a significant role in Georgia’s offense. The 5-foot-9, 205-pound running back is an explosive athlete and is projected to start.
