Georgia Bulldogs senior running back Daijun Edwards is currently sixth in the SEC in rushing (entering Week 8) despite missing two weeks win a knee injury.
Edwards has been a steadying presences in the Georgia backfield. Georgia is down running back Branson Robinson, who is out for the year, and has had several other running backs in and out of action due to injuries.
Edwards has more than double the amount of carries of the Bulldogs’ next closest running back. Edwards has 80 carries for 460 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. The former Colquitt County standout also has eight receptions for 64 yards this season. Cash Jones is the only Georgia running back with more receiving yardage than Edwards.
Daijun Edwards is averaging 16 carries and 96 yards per game. Edwards is seeing more work than previous Georgia running backs due to how banged up the Georgia backfield is.
The Bulldogs will look to lean on running the football with star tight end Brock Bowers out due to an ankle injury. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart highlighted running the ball as one way the Bulldogs could improve.
Offensively, the ability to run the ball and be explosive running the ball.
Georgia currently has the No. 5 rushing offense in the SEC at 172.4 yards per game. Daijun Edwards is a big reason why Georgia has been able to start out the season 7-0.
