Georgia quarterback Carson Beck has officially declared his intention to enter the NFL draft following a successful collegiate career. Beck, a fifth-year senior, made the announcement on social media after undergoing season-ending elbow surgery. The injury occurred during the Bulldogs' SEC championship game against Texas, prompting Beck to undergo surgery to repair his ulnar collateral ligament.
The procedure was conducted by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles, with Beck expected to resume throwing activities next spring. Despite being eligible for a sixth season, Beck has opted to pursue his NFL aspirations.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Beck expressed gratitude for his time at the University of Georgia, stating, 'The past five years at the University of Georgia have been nothing short of a dream come true, and I will forever cherish the memories that have been made.'
Gunner Stockton, who replaced Beck during the SEC championship game, will lead Georgia in the upcoming Sugar Bowl matchup against Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Beck had an impressive record as a starter, boasting a 24-3 win-loss ratio over the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
During the 2023 season, Beck excelled with 3,941 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. However, he faced challenges with turnovers in the current season, recording 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Beck's injury limited his performance in the SEC championship game, where he completed 7 of 13 passes for 56 yards before exiting the game.
Beck's decision to enter the NFL draft marks a significant milestone in his football career, as he transitions from collegiate success to pursuing opportunities at the professional level.
