Authorities in Carroll County, Georgia, have charged James and Cindy Spooner with four counts of first-degree child cruelty and false imprisonment following disturbing allegations of mistreatment towards their four teenage children.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, a search warrant was executed at the Spooner family's residence in Whitesburg, Georgia, revealing shocking conditions in which the teenagers were living.
The investigators discovered that each child's bedroom was equipped with a deadbolt lock on the outside of the door, and the exterior doors and windows were boarded up, indicating an effort to confine the children within the home.
The teenagers, consisting of three girls and one boy, reported being locked in their rooms for extended periods, sometimes for hours or even days, with minimal access to basic necessities. They described having only a bucket for a toilet and receiving food at the discretion of their parents.
The Carroll County Sheriff's Office condemned the situation as inhumane and expressed deep concern for the well-being of the children. They emphasized the need for the offenders to face severe consequences through the legal system for their reprehensible actions.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case to gather more information and ensure the safety and recovery of the affected teenagers.
