The Georgia Bulldogs had 14 players invited to the 2022 NFL combine from its national championship winning team. Last year, Georgia set a school record with nine players selected in the NFL draft. This time around, the Dawgs will look to shatter that number with potentially as many as 15 players selected in next month’s draft.
On Wednesday, Georgia hosted its annual Pro Day, allowing for its draft eligible players to show off their skills in front of what was a record number of NFL scouts and personnel executives.
Georgia had 16 of its own players participate and additionally had three more from other institutions as well. And they did so in front of 122 NFL personnel, said Kirby Smart.
“We broke our own (team) record of 122 NFL personnel here today,” Smart said. ” We have about five or six head coaches, more than we’ve ever had.
Luckily, we have a new team meeting room that we’re able to house these guys in.”
As the Senior Bowl’s Jim Nagy points out, Georgia had some big names in attendance Wednesday to evaluate and meet with some of the players.
Some prominent NFL personnel that were on hand include Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, Texans head coach Lovie Smith, Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.
Additionally, a couple of general managers from NFL franchises were in Athens as well. Those names include Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert and Giants general manager Joe Schoen.
