Georgia has no transfer commitments after portal window closes

The Georgia Bulldogs have no incoming transfer commitments after the closure of the winter transfer portal window. The portal closed on Dec. 28.

Georgia remains the only SEC school without an incoming transfer commitment or signee. Even Dabo Swinney and Clemson have added an incoming transfer this cycle.

Of course, more players can still enter the transfer portal. Players have five days after their bowl game to enter the portal, so Georgia players can still enter the transfer portal until at least five days after the Sugar Bowl (or longer if UGA wins against Notre Dame). Transfers can commit at any time once are in the portal.

Georgia has had nine players enter the portal during the winter window including several former five-star recruits.

Head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia struck out on several quarterback and wide receiver targets to start the winter transfer portal window. The Bulldogs still have several elite targets that remain uncommitted.

Every SEC school that did not make the playoff has at least four transfer commitments. The conference’s three schools to make the playoff have four transfer commitments combined. Georgia (zero), Texas (three) and Tennessee (one) have not been as active as the rest of the SEC in the portal.

Georgia doesn’t put a major emphasis on the portal, but UGA usually adds a few key transfers to fill holes across the roster. Most notably, Georgia does not know who start at quarterback next season after Carson Beck announced his intentions to enter the 2025 NFL draft.
