Georgia Hall targets place on Europe's Solheim Cup team after losing her British Open title

Georgia Hall has set her sights on winning back the Solheim Cup for Europe after the defence of her Women’s British Open title faltered at Woburn.

On Sunday, Hall ended up 15 strokes behind eventual winner Hinako Shibuno, the 20-year-old Japanese golfer holing a birdie putt at the last for a one-shot victory.

But Hall, who closed with a round of 73, said: “I’m very happy with my week overall.

"I hit the most greens I have all year so that’s a bonus for this week.”

As for her main goal for the rest of the season, she set her sights on a second Solheim Cup appearance after playing on the losing side in 2017 when the United States prevailed by five points.

She added: “The Solheim Cup was one of the highlights of my career and every European wants to get on that team, so I’m hopefully looking forward to that.”
