The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked as the No. 1 team in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Georgia received 51 of 55 first place votes in the poll, which was released after Week 1 of the 2024 college football season. Georgia received six more first place votes than it did in the preseason poll.
The Bulldogs were the most impressive team in the country in Week 1. Georgia’s 34-3 win over Clemson proved that the Bulldogs are national championship contenders again in 2024. Clemson dropped to No. 22 following the Tigers’ rough loss to Georgia.
Following Georgia is the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes. The Buckeyes received the second most first place votes with three. After Ohio State is No. 3 Texas, who received a first place vote. No. 4 Alabama and No. 5 Ole Miss round out the top five. Oregon dropped from No. 3 to No. 6 following the Ducks’ close call with Idaho.
The SEC has four of the country’s top five teams and seven teams in the top 13. The Big Ten has four teams in the top 10.
The top game of Week 2 is a top 10 clash between No. 3 Texas and No. 9 Michigan.
Georgia is scheduled to play on the road against three top five opponents (Alabama, Texas and Ole Miss). The Bulldogs open the season against the No. 14 Clemson Tigers on Aug. 31 in Atlanta. Georgia also hosts No. 15 Tennessee.
